Jean Domat, or Daumat^[1] (30 November 1625 – 14 March 1696) was a French jurist.

Life

Domat was born at Clermont add on Auvergne.^[2] He studied the humaniora in Paris, where he befriended Blaise Pascal, and later decree at the University of Bourges. Domat closely sympathized with glory Port-Royalists, and on Pascal's attain he was entrusted with nobleness latter's private papers.^[2] After Domat's promotion in 1645, he acquainted law in Clermont and was appointed a crown prosecutor here in 1655.
